The Rutland Show

Solving Kids' Cancer

For this year’s Rutland Show, Smith Eliot were proud to support a wonderful charity called Solving Kids’ Cancer.

Solving Kids’ Cancer supports children and families affected by neuroblastoma, a rare form of paediatric cancer. There are around 100 new cases of neuroblastoma each year, of which children are predominantly under 5 years old. The charity provides a range of specialist support services to families affected by neuroblastoma and Smith Eliot are partaking in a number of initiatives throughout the year to support the charity and the important work it does.

The Smith Eliot stand at The Rutland Show this year – which received a highly-commended certificate from the show on the day – featured a large tee pee where children and adults alike could come and have their faces painted or hair braided, with donations for the charity encouraged.

But the main focus of the fundraising this time around was a charity dunk tank. A series of brave participants from local businesses agreed to get dunked for a good cause including:

Vernon Moore, Moores Estate Agents
Stephen Smith, Sean Connolly and Caroline Cole, Smith Eliot Financial Management Ltd
Rob Guyatt, St. James’s Place
Rob Persani, Rutland Radio
Tom Berridge, Catmose College
Alex, Vape Central
Simon Cawthorne and Dan Adams, Simon Cawthorne
Caroline, Langrick & Coe

The company also organised a flash mob and the dancers treated visitors to a spectacular series of dances throughout the day. A special thank you to The Rutland Youth Dance Academy for supporting us and doing your bit for charity!

Charlotte Smith, of Smith Eliot, said of the day: “It was a real pleasure to come together and support Solving Kids’ Cancer. The charity is a supportive and comforting presence for families at their darkest times and we want to do everything we possibly can to support the important work that they do. We are so grateful to St. James’s Place, our clients and fellow local businesses for the support they have shown us and the generous donations we have managed to raise – all of which will certainly be put to good use.”
